!decentral is an initiative driven by a galaxy of projects more or less structured around a common effort – decentralizing infrastructures and communities in both technical and socio-political ways, to build communication tools and ecosystems with users and for users, especially focusing on folks at risk, in non-western contexts.

We’ve been working together since almost 2 years, when we first met in Berlin at the Onion Space, to talk about the new specifications for email encryption, named Autocrypt. Back then, folks from DeltaChat, Enigmail, Matrix.org, K-9, Secure Scuttlebot and more gathered together to discuss potential collaboration. Since then, many things have evolved, new projects have joined the initiative, and new integrations are ongoing!

A brief (uncomplete) list of projects present at !decentral:

  • DeltaChat
  • DAT
  • K-9
  • Sequoia
  • Autocrypt
  • and more

If you feel like you share our approach, and are interested in technical, social, geographical, ontological decentralization – contact us or drop by spontaneously! check out our Happenings page to find if anything particular is happening, or just come when you feel like.
